Blackberry Bible (Hints, Tips and Tricks)

Blackberry Tip 1:
How to avoid a "Nuked" or "Bricked" Blackberry.
First things first: What is a "nuked" Blackberry? : A “Nuked” Blackberry is when the said phone is stuck in a reboot loop. The phone just refuses to start up even after loading (booting process) for a while; it just shuts down again and reboots. It never starts up for real. In older OS versions of the blackberry, the hourglass sign keeps rotating and then the system shuts down.

There are numerous situations in which a blackberry becomes nuked or bricked. While its quite difficult to fish out the exact culprit in these instances; one unfortunate truth is that: as long as you download/install lots of applications, change themes or otherwise customize your blackberry you very likely will at some point find yourself with a nuked or bricked smartphone.
I am going to sight one major instance to watch out for whenever it arises on your device. It has to do with application or software updates on your blackberry. Usually, the App World software will notify you whenever there is an update for most of the applications on your phone... Here's the thing: your phone should ask you ONLY once if you'll want to replace the old application with a new one (i.e. during the update process). DO NOT just keep confirming the prompts until the application finishes downloading. If you do, you'll likely end up with a useless BlackBerry.

Instead, Click "No" when the multiple prompts ask if you want to confirm the update, then delete the application from your handheld and reinstall it via BlackBerry App World. This should leave you with the latest version of the application and you won't brick your BlackBerry in the process of updating.
