Blackberry Bible (Hints, Tips and Tricks) Cont'd

Blackberry Tip 2:

A few BlackBerry Shortcuts.
Ever since I started using the blackberry smartphone, its been a phone for basically everything: surfing the web; listening to music and watching video; mobile banking; social networking; image and video capture and so on and so forth...

So why not get a few tricks to carry out these tasks in the quickest of times
So I present to you a few of my favourite shortcuts on the blackberry smartphone.

1. Soft Reset:
A soft reset entails rebooting your blackberry device but without taking out the battery. You are often asked to restart your phone after downloading certain applications or when your smartphone starts to hang or lag.
You can perform a "hard reset" by removing your BlackBerry battery, but it's often easier to simply perform a "soft reset" since you don't have to actually take your device apart to do so.
To quickly perform a soft reset, simply press your BlackBerry's "ALT", "Right Shift" (Caps-lock key) and "Delete" keys simultaneously and your device will reset itself.

2. Blackberry "Help Me" screen:
To quickly view various BlackBerry status information, including battery-life percentage, free file memory, wireless signal strength in numbers, BlackBerry OS version, BlackBerry PIN number and much more with a simple keyboard short-cut.
To view this screen, just press your BlackBerry's "ALT", "Left Shift" (Caps-lock key) and "H" keys simultaneously to display the BlackBerry "Help Me" screen.

3. Skip to view the Oldest Unread Message in BlackBerry Inbox
Sometimes you just can't seem to keep up with e-mail on your BlackBerry, and before you know it, a couple of days have passed and you've got hundreds of messages built up on your device. You could go backwards through your messages, but you'll find it easier to jump to the oldest unread message and work from there, since newer messages could be related to earlier e-mail you might have missed.
To jump to the oldest unread message in your BlackBerry's inbox, simply open up the inbox and tap your "U" key. You'll jump right to your oldest unopened mail.

4. Refresh Web Pages in BlackBerry Browser:
You can quickly and easily refresh webpages on your blackberry browser.
To refresh a webpage, simply press the "R' key while on the browser.

5. Toggle Between "Normal" and "Vibrate" Profiles:
Quickly switch between normal and vibrate profiles on your blackberry by pressing and holding down the "Q" key while at your home screen.

6. Use Your BlackBerry as a Flashlight (Torch):
Instead of paying to download a flashlight application, you can use your BlackBerry camera's flash as a flashlight with just a couple of button clicks. Simply open up your camera application, switch to video mode and then tap your Space Bar.

7. Swing to the Top, Bottom of Web Page, Bbm page, Text messages... with a Single Click:
While navigating the Web via BlackBerry Browser or scrolling through lengthy messages; you can quickly jump to the top and/or bottom of a page by tapping your "T" key to go to the top and "B" to drop to the bottom of a page. Real quick and easy.

8. Jump to Next, Previous Files in Media Player:
Quickly scroll through media files in the BlackBerry media player applications (both music and video) by tapping "N" for "next" to move forward and "P" for previous to move backward through files.

More to come...

Best Regards!

  1. It's difficult to find educated people about this topic, however, you sound like you know what you're talking about!
